— Trusted, local care for missing teeth

Calm, dental implant care, close to home, with no pressure to decide on the day.

General Dentistry

The Kurmond Dentist is a general dental practice on Bells Line of Road, with roots that began at a small clinic in Pitt Town. We’ve cared for Hawkesbury families for years, and we bring that same calm, patient approach to implant care, taking the time to explain your options clearly.

Our dentists hold advanced training in implant dentistry and a genuine interest in restoring smiles. As an ADA member practice using HICAPS for all major private health funds, the care you receive meets the standards you’d expect, delivered by people who live and work in your community.

— Missing a tooth?

You have more options than you may think.

Losing a tooth, to decay, a knock, gum disease or an old extraction that was never replaced, affects more than your smile. You might find it harder to chew on one side, notice a change in your speech, or feel your remaining teeth drifting into the gap. There are generally three paths, and we’ll talk you through all three honestly.

— Removable

Denture

Removable, and the most affordable to start with. A practical option for replacing several or all missing teeth.

— Tooth-Supported

Bridge

Uses the neighbouring teeth for support, with crowns on the healthy teeth either side of the gap.

— Standalone

Dental implant

Stands on its own in the jaw, it neither relies on other teeth nor needs to come out at night. For many, the closest thing to getting the natural tooth back.

Dental Implant Patient

— What are dental implants?

A new root, and a tooth that looks, feels and works like the real thing.

A dental implant is a small titanium post that replaces the root of a missing tooth. It’s placed into the jawbone, where it bonds with the bone over a few months to form a stable foundation. A custom-made crown, colour-matched to your natural teeth, is then attached on top.

Because the implant integrates with your own bone, it also helps preserve the jaw and keeps your face looking full, something a gap or a plate alone can’t do.

— Your implant journey, step by step

Knowing what’s ahead takes the worry out of it.

Straightforward single and multiple-tooth cases are handled here at our practice; more complex cases may be co-managed with a trusted local surgeon.

01

Your first consultation

We start with a thorough examination and scans to check the health of your gums and the amount of bone available. We’ll explain whether an implant is suitable, walk through the timeline, and answer every question, unhurried, and in plain language.

02

Placing your implant

The implant post is placed during a gentle procedure under local anaesthetic. Most patients are surprised by how comfortable it is, and how little it disrupts their day. The implant then heals quietly over the following months as it bonds with the bone.

03

Your new tooth

Once healing is complete, we attach your custom crown (or bridge). You leave with a tooth that blends seamlessly with your smile, and a plan to keep it healthy for the long term.

— Frequently Asked Questions

Dental implants, answered.

Can’t find what you’re looking for? Give our friendly team a call, we’re happy to help with any questions you may have.

The cost depends on how many teeth you’re replacing and whether any preparation, such as a bone graft, is needed, so there’s no single price. After your consultation you’ll receive a written treatment plan with full costs. We offer HICAPS health-fund claiming, flexible payment plans, and guidance on accessing your superannuation on compassionate grounds to help make treatment affordable.
With good oral hygiene and regular check-ups, a dental implant can last many years, often decades. The titanium post is designed to be a permanent foundation, and the crown on top can be maintained or replaced over time if needed. Caring for an implant is as simple as brushing, flossing and keeping up your routine dental visits.
The implant is placed under local anaesthetic, so you shouldn’t feel pain during the procedure, and most patients describe the recovery as far easier than they expected, often comparable to a routine extraction. Any tenderness afterwards is usually mild and settles within a few days with simple pain relief.
In some cases, yes. The Australian Government allows early release of superannuation on compassionate grounds to pay for essential dental treatment, including implants, when eligibility criteria are met. Applications are assessed by Services Australia. We can provide the treatment information you’ll need to support an application.
Private health funds with major dental cover often contribute towards part of the treatment, though implants are rarely covered in full. With HICAPS at our Kurmond practice, any rebate you’re entitled to is claimed on the spot. Bring your fund details to your consultation and we’ll help you understand what you can claim.
