Dentures are removable replacements for missing teeth and the surrounding gum tissue, custom-made to restore the way you eat, speak and smile. Whether teeth were lost to decay, gum disease, an accident or simply over time, a well-made denture can give back your bite, your speech and your smile.

The Kurmond Dentist is a family-focused practice on Bells Line of Road, with roots in our original Pitt Town clinic and a long history of looking after Hawkesbury families. As an ADA member practice, we hold ourselves to the standards and ongoing education of the Australian Dental Association.

Every denture is designed for your mouth.

Crafted in partnership with our trusted dental laboratory, so it fits comfortably and looks like you, never one-size-fits-all.

Full (complete) dentures

Full dentures replace all of the teeth in your upper jaw, lower jaw, or both. They rest on your gums, held in place by natural suction and the careful contouring of the denture base, with adhesive for extra security if you prefer. We design them to suit your face and smile, so the result looks natural rather than obvious.

Partial dentures

A partial denture fills the space left by one or several missing teeth while your remaining natural teeth stay in place. As well as restoring your bite and appearance, it stops your other teeth drifting into the gap, held securely by small clasps or a slimline framework moulded to fit.

Implant-retained dentures

For more stability, particularly with a lower denture, an implant-retained denture (or overdenture) clips onto a small number of dental implants. This anchors it firmly so it won’t move when you eat or speak, while still being removable for cleaning.

Relines, repairs & additions

Dentures change over time because your gums and jawbone gradually change shape. If yours has become loose, cracked, chipped or no longer fits well, we provide relines, repairs and additions in partnership with our dental laboratory. Bring your existing denture in and we’ll assess what’s needed.

The cost of dentures varies because it depends on the type (full or partial), the materials used, how many teeth are being replaced, and whether extractions or a reline are needed first. The Kurmond Dentist doesn’t display a single price for this reason; instead, we assess your mouth and give you a clear written quote, with HICAPS claiming and payment plans available to help with the cost.

With good care, dentures typically last around five to ten years. Your gums and jawbone change shape over time, so even a well-made denture may need a reline or replacement eventually to keep it fitting comfortably. Regular check-ups help us spot when an adjustment is due.

Most dentures are made from durable dental acrylic, coloured to look like natural gums and teeth. Partial dentures may also use a slim, strong cobalt-chrome metal framework for extra support, and flexible materials are an option for some patients. We’ll recommend the most suitable material at your consultation.

Both replace missing teeth, but they suit different needs. Dentures are removable and generally more affordable, while dental implants are fixed in place and feel most like natural teeth. Many patients choose an implant-retained denture, which combines the stability of implants with the convenience of a removable denture. Eligible pensioner and concession card holders may be able to access dentures through NSW Health public dental services, subject to eligibility and waiting lists. As a private practice, The Kurmond Dentist offers HICAPS for instant health-fund claiming and flexible payment plans. We’re happy to help you understand your options.

Clean your dentures every day with a soft denture brush and mild soap or denture cleaner, not regular toothpaste, which can be too abrasive. Take them out overnight and store them in water or a denture-soaking solution to keep them moist. Bring them to your check-ups so we can inspect the fit and condition.
