— Two halves of a healthy smile

Most dental care falls into one of two halves, and together they’re the foundation of a smile that lasts a lifetime.

— Half One

Preventive

Protecting the teeth you have

Everyday care that stops decay and gum disease before they start, check-ups, sealants, fluoride and mouthguards. The goal is to spend as much time here as possible.

— Half Two

Restorative

Repairing teeth that need it

Calm, clear repair when a tooth is decayed, cracked, worn or missing, from tooth-coloured fillings through to crowns, implants and more. We can bring back that beautiful smile.

— The simplest treatment is the one you never need

Preventive Dentistry

Everyday care that keeps small issues from becoming big ones, catching decay while it’s tiny, keeping gums healthy, and strengthening teeth against daily wear. For most people, that means fewer fillings, less discomfort and lower costs over time.

Early detection & gentle monitoring

At each visit we check for the earliest signs of decay, gum changes and wear, managing anything worth watching early, usually with something far gentler than a filling.

Fissure sealants & fluoride treatment

A thin sealant painted into the deep grooves of back teeth where decay begins, quick and painless. Fluoride strengthens enamel and helps reverse the earliest decay.

Protecting against grinding & sport

A custom-fitted nightguard or sports mouthguard, a small, comfortable piece of prevention that protects teeth worth far more to replace.

— Bringing back strength, function and a natural look.

Restorative Dentistry

Restorative Dentistry

When a tooth is decayed, cracked, worn or missing, the aim is always to keep as much of your own healthy tooth as possible, and rebuild the rest so you can eat, speak and smile without a second thought.

Tooth-coloured fillings

We use tooth-coloured composite fillings, also called white fillings, which bond directly to the tooth and blend in naturally. They’re mercury-free, conserve more of your natural tooth than older silver amalgam, and are the modern standard for everyday decay and small chips.

When more than a filling is needed

Some teeth need more support than a filling can give. When that’s the case, we’ll explain exactly why and talk you through the options, there’s never any pressure.

Crowns & bridges

To rebuild a heavily damaged tooth or replace a missing one.

Dental implants

A long-term replacement for a missing tooth, root and all.

Dentures

Removable replacements for several or all missing teeth.

Root canal therapy

Endodontics to save a tooth with an infected or damaged nerve.

Veneers

Thin facings to restore chipped or worn front teeth.

A dental filling repairs a tooth after decay has been removed. The dentist cleans out the decayed part of the tooth and fills the space with a tooth-coloured composite material that restores the tooth’s shape and seals it against further decay. Most fillings are done in a single visit.
The cost of a filling depends on the size of the cavity, which tooth it’s on and the material used, so it varies from person to person. At The Kurmond Dentist we provide a clear written quote before any treatment, claim your private health rebate on the spot through HICAPS, and bulk-bill eligible children under the CDBS.
A straightforward tooth-coloured filling usually takes around 20 to 60 minutes, depending on its size and location. Most are completed comfortably in a single appointment, and you can return to normal activities straight afterwards.
Yes. Tooth-coloured (white) fillings are set hard by a curing light during your appointment, so you can eat once any numbness wears off — usually a couple of hours. It’s sensible to start with something soft and avoid very hot or very hard foods for the rest of the day.
